Halloween!

I just LOVE Halloween! I think its the most exciting day of the year. I think even better than Christmas :P. What i have learned that Halloween  was originally linked to the Celtic festival Samhain meaning "summers end". For the wiccans it is celebrated to honor our ancestors in the spirit world. At this time the "veil" between us and the spirit world is the thinnest. Catholics/Christians decided to have All Saints day to November 1st since the wiccans and pegans were already celebrating that day, so it made sense to use it as a church holiday. I was wondering to myself, how did they get Halloween out of Samhain or All Saints day? Well, the mass called it Allhallowmas- the mass of all those who are hallowed. They say they night before was called All Hallows Eve, so that's were we got Halloween. I thought it was pretty cool.

The Witch's New Year

"Sunset on Samhain is the beginning of the Celtic New Year. The old year has passed, the harvest has been gathered, cattle and sheep have been brought in from the fields, and the leaves have fallen from the trees. The earth slowly begins to die around us.

This is a good time for us to look at wrapping up the old and preparing for the new in our lives. Think about the things you did in the last twelve months. Have you left anything unresolved? If so, now is the time to wrap things up. Once you’ve gotten all that unfinished stuff cleared away, and out of your life, then you can begin looking towards the next year."

So I hope everyone enjoys their Halloween! Have lots of fun and everyone enjoy the witch's new year!

Blessed Be.
